This is an informative post about what is going on in the Senate Foreign Relation Committee with respect to Kenya. In general, I highly recommend his blog, he also has a recent post on YouTube videos of rebels and rebel leaders that is surprising, to say the least.
Also, the guy who is attempting to start up the Africa reading group with his blog, which I am going to get to eventually (they are only asking for six books this year, I have time) has a list of non-depressing books that take place in developing countries. I really think the list could be longer than it is, but I could have used the list when I was teaching. My eye was caught by Wizard of the Crow, which is by a Kenyan author, and quite wonderful. I read it last year and throughly enjoyed it; there is now a group dedicated to reading and discussing it online if any of you are interested.
