Dashed hopes

I love Last.fm (as you might have guessed from my sidebar) so I was quite excited by the announcement that they were going to be paying independent artists used in their streaming radio. However, there are assertions that the effort is more of a publicity stunt than a useful move because of the difficult process a band has to go through to actually get paid.
