Oh my.

Men are accepting alimony and fully a third of women make more than their husbands and sex is only good for 7-13 minutes. Over at Slate the XX blog is all atwitter about how surprising the first article is, but I wonder if there isn't a factor that is being ignored in these statistics. I know quite a few couples where women stayed home to be mothers through some portion of their lives and have gone back to work and are not terribly interested in quitting even if their husbands are retired. In general, I think any leveling of the playing field is a good thing, but I would be very curious to find out more about how this plays out among ages. Young people having salaries that are statistically equivalent would say something very different about how much progress there has been, but I have also noticed an apocryphal tendency towards women having careers that move more slowly, but continue longer and I have never seen a statistical analysis that might support or dispute this suspension I have.
