More Happiness Stuff

I know, I am always fascinated by the study of happiness and PsyBlog has a post linking to several summaries of research on the subject and to an assertion that my favorite Greek philosopher was (mostly) right. I love it when people say I am right, though I don't agree with everything he says either. I'm including a link to Epicurus online, as well.

I'd like to make a point on the marriage issue as well. Modern happiness studies consistently show that married people are happier, and many historical philosophers have taken a dim view of the institution. I wonder how much this has to do with the way in which the institution of marriage has changed or if it is just that philosophers are just disproportionately dummies on this subject, probably because of the well-documented tendency toward misogyny they exhibit.
