Apparently phallic wasn't the right way to build tall buildings.

Wired has done a profile on Bill Baker, who is the current king of engineering and building the tallest buildings in the world. The breakthrough that has allowed him to not only break the 2000' tall mark, but be in the midst of a building in (of course) Dubai that may end up closer to the 3000' mark than the 2000': a 'Y' shape where each wing is attached to a reinforced core. This allows each wing to be protected from wind shear by the other two and twisting or swaying from the reinforced core.

Also in Wired, the Irish may have been brewing their lovely alcoholic beverages, or at least some form of them, since the Bronze Age.
