He Even Knows who Eugene O'Neill is.

So I was wandering through the new books shelf in the library yesterday and I saw a book with the title Music Lust, which seems like a title that has to go with a good book, right.

It's actually wonderful. The author, Nic Harcourt, is the host of the LA radio show Morning Becomes Eclectic, where they broke Dido, Norah Jones, and Coldplay. Music Lust is a collection of short essays he has written that go in alphabetical order from "Afro-beat:The Political Dance" to "Frank Zappa: Icon." I by no means always agree with him, and the breadth of his taste is a little daunting, but I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

If you want an introduction to Nic Harcourt read this interview at PBS.

Oh, and I hate all of you that live in LA.

I listen to Nic Harcourt when I drive to work in the mornings. That is, when I get up in time. Noon's pretty early for me these days.

KCRW is the best.
