Everybody loves the Beatles these days. First, I find this long ode to them that alleges their musical longevity is due not so much to the conventions of rock, but a drawing on pop and smaltz of the highest order (turn of the century English dance hall music) and then even Slate wants to get in on the action with a fairly scathing review of a new Beatles book and a positively glowing review of McCartney's new album that I am now rather intrested to hear. It's got 77 out of 100 on Metacritic.
In other news...THE POGUES ARE BACK and doing another reunion tour, which will be in the US in March and in Atlantic City on March 11th and everyone should get tickets if you can.
Also, I apologize for the slowness of the blog lately. I have been a little busy and actually expected the blog to be slow through the holidays, what with two of our members just getting back from Europe, one of them about to go to Euroe, two of them moving, various other holiday plans and me struggling with jobs, thesis, and my Army bro coming home. I had actually written a post to that affect that I never posted because I am a dork. So it is now coming to pass and I think I can assure everyone that the blog will pick back up sometime in January.
In the same post I was writing a suggestion that we spend a little bit of time introducng ourselves, because most of the people on here are friends, and those that aren't should be, so if you get time and feel like it, I'm going to request everybody spend a minute at some point in the future to tell/remind everybody who you are (I'm not asking for any indentification that you feel strange reveling in public, just a basic idea of how we all relate). I was reminded of the need for this when I got an email from our friend in India quizzing on some of your identities (and slamming the lovely onereason for her lack of blog cotribution).
