Since I just subjected you to both Marginal Revolution and Foreign Affairs, I am going to continue on with this article that Tyler Cowen says will be one of the five best articles published this year. I don't know if I quite agree with that, but it is true that the melting of ice around the north pole and the way it will open up shipping routes and change much about the economics of intercontinental trade is beyond fascinating. The article also takes the position that our willingness to stand on the sidelines and ignore the north may be something that the US will come to regret.
