I don't how in the world I missed this in the madness that was the holiday season for me, but Tor Books has announced that Brandon Sanderson will be finishing the Wheel of Time series. Everybody here knows that I have an extraordinarily long standing love of fantasy and sci-fi (the first book I remember reading is A Wind in the Door) and I have been reading the Wheel of Time series for a very, very long time. I used to re-read all of the books in the series every time a new one came out. In an sad development, the author died of cancer last year. The twelfth, and final, book was left unfinished, though the rumor was that he had written much of it and left detailed outlines and notes., but all of the names swirling around as possibilities for finishing it were established authors who I wasn't sure would work. Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite up-and-coming fantasy authors and I am overjoyed that TOR has hired someone who may actually do justice to the last book.
