Giving makes you happy, but some people think that being too nice doesn't necessarily and Bhutan is going to start trying to figure it out by attempting a national measure of happiness.
Speaking of The Smart Set, where the article about Bhutan appears, they seem to have a Bishop Allen focus right now. They have published articles on the wonder of long bus rides and a serenader in San Cristóbal lately, both of which are strangely related to topics of songs from Bishop Allen's last album, The Broken String, which was recommended to me recently and which I have spent a few weeks pretty obsessed with. You should get it; it can be downloaded from Amazon for $8.99.
