The new French president, whose relationship travails have been entertaining the world, has also been busy questioning the way we measure growth and tapped Amartya Sen (whose Development as Freedom is awesome, though it has been a few years since I read it) to be involved with the effort.

This is my new, fun news, since I totally missed Davos and Gates' speech on Creative Capitalism, though I do find it even funnier then the 1943 manual on hiring women that Reason doesn't like Gates' plan and loves celebrities giving money in highly public ways. I don't necessarily disagree with the second point and I haven't had to time to figure out the first, but I find the Libertarian instinct to always attack the conventional wisdom highly amusing.
