Jumper was a really bad movie. They changed or glossed over almost everything that was interesting about the book, but the change that made me the most annoyed had to do with the main love interest in the film. In the books, she is a college student who is smart and capable and even ends up having to rescue the guy once in a while, but in the movie she is suddenly transformed into an idiot who is trapped in her home town working at a bar. There is no reason to make this change, except that the stereotype of a woman who needs to be rescued is the only way the screenwriter is capable of understand a love interest fitting into the story at all.
My ire is intense on this matter.
