I'm sure you have all heard about the Pakistani elections by this point, so I won't bore you too much, but hilzoy (over at Obsidian Wings) has one of the better posts I have read about the implications and you should use your joy at Musharraf's solid whooping (even if it does make some problems because the US put far too many of our eggs in the basket) and the generally horrid performance of hard line religious parties in the same election to disperse the depression that is induced by hearing that 2007 appears to have been a very bad year for democracy or anything resembling it. The exact quote from Freedom House's report on 2007 is, "marked by a notable setback for global freedom."

If your interested in more about Pakistan, the general reaction to Bhutto's posthumously published Reconciliation have been quite positive.
