Sort-of a rebuttal

Of course Slate's new XX blog on women's issues is charting some of the current news about how women in positions of power are viewed, but they also bring up a recent issue in India where affirmative action efforts led to women being put in charge of a number of villages. Interestingly, the women where far more likely than their male counterparts to enact measures that benefited the entire community (like working on access to clean water) but they consistently got lower approval ratings despite their effectiveness and the far greater number of community focused projects they focused on.
