Spanish Style

Apparently, the Spanish government has decided the fashion industry needs to be overhauled so they are commissioning a massive study using lasers that take almost instant measurements of women's bodies to find out exactly what the averages are. Then there are regulations going into effect about both size standardization and the minimum sizes for mannequins. Why can't we get this?

As to lamenting what we don't have yet in most of the US: check out this article about the VA and computer systems that try to prevent dosage and prescription errors by doctors and which most US hospitals (excepting the VA) have been hostile toward.

The VA has an amazing network system, something Maggie commented on while searching for a nursing job coming out of school here in Indy. That was the only positive to the VA - she found rather a deplorable working environment, one where nurses were overworked and the entire hospital was understaffed. Nurses were required to work extra hours per day to offset the extreme shortages. Furthermore, the quality of case at the VA here in Indy was subpar to the suburban (i.e., spa-like) hospitals. Technology can only do so much - it is the operating model and the quality of interaction that is imperative for patient care.
