Yet AGAIN with the Footie
Well, we've reached the round of eight. And I propose a bracket. Below you will find the game/television schedule for the remainder of the World Cup. Below that, you'll find my proposal for a bracket in which we can pick the winners and keep score amongst ourselves. Each correct pick for the winner of a match results in the indicated number of points. Winner gets...probably bragging rights - though I think whoever wins should certainly hit up the losers for congratulatory beers whenever s/he sees them. So, add your picks in comments and let's see who wins.

1. Germany vs Argentina = Germany
2. Italy vs Ukraine = Italy
3. England vs Portugal = England
4. Brazil vs France = Brazil
5. Germany vs Italy = Germany
6. England vs Brazil = England
7. Italy vs Brazil = Brazil
8. Germany vs England = Germany wins the World Cup
First, I'd like to get regulations decided; are we only picking winners, in which case we don't have to be consistent, or do we need to lay it all out as surrelevant has done.
The problem with this is that the conventional wisdom is split on only one of these first four games, and even there (Germany v. Argentina), the home team advantage has historically proven quite valuable in the World Cup. However, this entire Cup I've been rooting for losers and surrelevant may be tired of it, but I'm just getting started so, for the first four...
Argentina, Ukraine, England (I just can't root for Portugal), France.
I'll get the rest up soon.
1) Argentina - my favorite to win it all
2) Italy - the Azzuris will win a boring game 2-0
3) England - and 249 fans will be arrested for hooliganism
4) Brasil - can't go with the cheese-eating surrender monkeys
5) Argentina v. Italy - Argentina
6) England v. Brasil - Upset in the making: England
7) Italy v. Brasil - Brasil (but Renaldo has a hot wife!!)
8) Argentina v. England - Argentina!!! Then they invade the Falkland Islands and claim them (again) for the homeland.
As most of you know, I am woefully underqualified to make any guesses as to the outcome. That being said I'm pretty sure that MagSit or SirElephant will permanently ban me if I don't make some sort of statement.
France wins everything.
That's all.
So. I'm not good at math.
Who won?
